About the Youth Advocacy Network and the Youth Advisory Council
The Asian American Justice Center's (AAJC) youth advocacy network is led by a Youth Advisory Council (the Council) formed to recognize the longstanding leadership and activism of Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) youth. The Council is a group of ten student leaders from across the nation working together to address issues pertinent to the AAPI community, such as immigration and anti-Asian violence. This youth network serves as an outlet to help engage students on issues of racial equity while bringing together the next generation of community leaders.
The Council and youth advocacy network support the often untapped resource of student enthusiasm and capacity for life-long community advocacy. We provide opportunities for students to build capacity for their work through collaboration while providing the support necessary to help these youths make a difference in their communities.
AAJC works with student activists to uncover the current and relevant issues facing AAPI students today. As a platform to promote youth activism and civic engagement in the AAPI community, the Council works to build the capacity of their peers for student organizing and policy advocacy, recognizing their current leadership abilities and building them up for a long term commitment of working towards the civil and human rights of the AAPI community.
