
Most recently, Ms. Deshmukh practiced international arbitration in the Paris, France office of Freshfields, Bruckhaus, Deringer. Working in international arbitration exposed Ms. Deshmukh to a multitude of issues public and private companies face in contracting with both domestic and international governments. During her first month at Freshfields, Ms. Deshmukh co-authored the article “Fair Trade” which appeared in the March 5, 2007 issue of Legal Week, the most widely-read legal publication in Europe.
Ms. Deshmukh has volunteered extensively for several public interest organizations in the Philadelphia area, including Homeless Advocacy Project, Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program and Legal Clinic for the Disabled. This culminated in her recipience of the Dorothy Day Award for Exceptional Public Service, awarded at her commencement from Villanova University School of Law. As a law student, Ms. Deshmukh was also actively involved in the Asian and Pacific American Law Students’ Association (APALSA), serving as the treasurer and community service coordinator.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Deshmukh worked in public relations for four years in New York City. This gave her extensive national media relations skills, consumer outreach experience, comprehensive marketing knowledge and the ability to liaise effectively with Fortune 500 clients.
Ms. Deshmukh holds a Juris Doctorate from Villanova University School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College. She is admitted to the practice of law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She is multi-lingual, maintaining proficiency in French, Spanish and Marathi.
