AAJC was one of the foremost Asian American organizations addressing recovery issues for Asian American communities devastated by Hurricane Katrina. We continue to focus on helping people overcome language barriers to access disaster benefits and programs during the recovery process, and strategizing with government agencies on the emergency needs of Asian American communities. AAJC's work with the American Red Crosshas already led to improvements in its disaster relief services, preparedness planning and outreach to Asian American and limited English proficient communities.
