Meredith Higashi is a staff attorney with the Asian American Justice Center focusing on the organization’s amicus litigation efforts.

Ms. Higashi was previously the NAPABA Law Foundation Partners and In-House Counsel Community Law Fellow for AAJC where she worked in the Immigration and Immigrant Rights Program.  Ms. Higashi’s broad public service experience prior to AAJC includes a legal clerkship with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, where she contributed to projects on diversity, education, language access and election protection. She also taught law classes to students in the Seattle public school system through the Street Law Program at the University of Washington School of Law and the federal Upward Bound program.   

Ms. Higashi holds a juris doctorate from the University of Washington School of Law and a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.  During law school, Ms. Higashi received the University of Washington’s Takuji Yamashita Memorial Scholarship for her contributions to the field of civil rights and was also honored by the Asian Bar Association of Washington. Ms. Higashi is admitted to practice in the state of Washington.
