Daranee Petsod

Daranee Petsod is Executive Director of Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR), a national network of grantmakers working to move the philanthropic field to promote the contributions and address the needs of the world's growing and increasingly diverse population of immigrants and refugees. With a core focus on the United States, GCIR provides information resources, collaboration, networking, and learning opportunities to enhance grantmakers' awareness and understanding of immigrant and refugee issues and to increase philanthropic support for both broad and immigrant/refugee-focused strategies that benefit newcomers and strengthen the wider community.

In addition to her work with GCIR, Ms. Petsod also serves as Fund Advisor for the Los Angeles Immigrant Funders’ Collaborative and occasionally consults with foundations and nonprofits in the areas of program planning, organizational development, and communications. Prior to joining GCIR in 1999, she served as interim executive director and development director for the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. She also worked as a program officer for two private foundations, a policy analyst for the United Way, a social worker at a child-welfare agency, and an outreach worker for a refugee women’s services program. Ms. Petsod currently serves on the board of the Family Violence Prevention Fund in San Francisco.
